WHO WE ARE

ABOUT TED

TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader. Along with two annual conferences – the TED Conference in Long Beach and Palm Springs each spring, and the TEDGlobal conference in Edinburgh UK each summer – TED includes the award-winning TEDTalks video site, the Open Translation Project and TED Conversations, the inspiring TED Fellows and TEDx programs, and the annual TED Prize.

ABOUT TEDXYOUTH@STOCKHOLM

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED – like experience. Our event is called TEDxYouth Stockholm, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxYouth Stockholm event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

OUR PURPOSE

Our vision is that TEDxYouth Stockholm will be a living forum where the young and the old can meet and inspire each other. TEDxYouth Stockholm should be seen as an active platform for social issues and development, and not only as a one-time event without connection to the life outside the conference. Through TEDxYouth Stockholm we want to utilize the experience and ideas that our community will possess in order to take an active stance on our social issues and together work for a better future.

We see the individual for what he or she is - age, sex, background or political views does not matter for participation. The other way around, we invite everyone to join the conversation and share their unique story and perspective on the world.
